There are a number of things that could be discussed in this opening paragraph. We could talk about how Boys Night Out may have binged on the scream-laced pop-punk trend on their debut full-length Make Yourself Sick, but it was widely agreed they were a cut (no pun intended) above the rest. We could talk about the idiocy and/or laziness surrounding the mainstream media's discussion of Green Day's American Idiot last year as if it really was the first concept album made in music since the Who's Tommy. We could talk about progression. Maturity. Musical stagnation. A lack thereof. While these are all certainly both refreshing and utterly stale topics depending on the perspective, Trainwreck is an album that requires about as much text as can be allotted for.

I am not by any means an avid BNO fan. I can understand why some you, after listening to half of one of the songs off of Trainwreck, will majestically describe it as "sucky". The lyrics can at times be completely generic, and somewhat pathetic. That's what i meant. hahaha I like this album.. i think this was the second best album of 2005. both the music and lyrics are amazing, and the story that is told through this album is in every way a good story. What is with this band and murder? Seems like they're trying to grab attention by focusing on a supposedly "shocking" topic over and over again. Lame, murder isn't cool nor is it really "shocking" at all. tired of writing big posts. bno rules! this is by far my favourtie album you've had .. possibly my favourite cd i own! oh my god .. boys night out rocks and thats all i can say i have everyone of your albums and i've gone to three of your concerts, you guys rock i love you! Boys Night Out - Trainwreck The thing I love about this CD is the story, its so freaking twisted and messed up...he kills his wife in his sleep and ends up cutting off his own hands too...I just love how different it is and its also an amazing album overall. haha this site is so filled with fucking morons So your saying you rather be castrated (sp) and be a freak if you couldnt like BNO. I couldn't care less if liking Boys Night Out means I have no balls (heheh)...they still kick ass. This is the epitomy of a good concept album. The songs are meant to be similar because, well, they relate to a similar topic. If you do not enjoy the greatness of this album, then you just don't deserve to hear it. Im not really into much emo/pop-punk but this album is awesome. The whole story thing is great. I love it! boys night out is so goddamn addictive. easily the best release of the year. easily. the artwork leaves a little something to be desired but the music speaks for itself. this is the type of band that comes out with such great new shit that it makes the old shit seem brandfuckingnew again. BNO rule! Although i miss their screaming, this new album still beats most this year. Keep up the good work. I don't know, as a BNO fan for years, I am in mad love with this cd. It's really nothing like Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses or Make Yourself Sick. Getting away from the whole "she broke up with me, I think I'll kill her" thing was really smart, and showed that they are able to grow. Adding Kara to the band seems to give them this interesting pop that makes everything so awesome to listen to. I've already posted my comment on this album, I like it. But one thing I don't understand is how fans of this band get labeled as "eyeliner/girl pant wearing gay asses" I don't! And I've been a true fan to this band since they realeased "You are My Canvas EP". Also "Make Yourself Sick" was amazing and "Trainwreck" is too just in a different way. And this is by far the best concept album realeased this year. Not many people like conpcepts but its pretty well laid out and it was their original idea they didn't just make a concept album based on goverment preassures or a movie/book. Either way good album whenever their next album is more like "make yourself Sick" or this I'll be happy nonetheless. too many scenesters here that go to local shows and hardcore dance. stop hating on everything that is mildly mainstream. your heads are clouded with the attempts you scenesters make to maintain your "image". this cd is good, and i didnt like the older BNO cd's as much. So I was reading all of the comments left on here about this album...and wow. First of all, anyone who thinks Pink Floyd sucks should just shut the fuck up and never speak about music again, because you obviously don't know a DAMN thing about music. Now, I can see how some wouldn't like this CD...personally I think it's great, even my favorite BNO release. They have gone nearly completely pop/rock, and it's perfect. The music is absolutely flawless. Fuck your comparisons to MCR...that just doesn't make sense. And 'Ohhh this is a concept album, those are so over-done and if you make one nowadays it's going to be absolute shit just for the sole reason that...it's a concept album.' Uh-huh, because every single concept album sucks right? Fucking morons. If you know anything about music, you will think this is a good CD. It might not be your thing to listen to, but at least you will appreciate it. The music is ridiculously catchy (a BNO trademark), the singing is perfect, the lyrics are well-written, I could keep going on but why do I need to? It pisses me off to see such well-crafted music getting shit on by ignorant fucks like most of you, so I give a personal fuck you to you who claim to be interested in music... LEARN WHAT MUSIC FUCKING IS. If you would like to contact me, then do so. FIVE STARS BOYS NIGHT OUT keep up the good work, I am already anxiously awaiting your next release. i'm glad everyone gets a chance to voice his/her opinion on an internet messageboard. such progress humankind creates. actually, what i meant to say was that reading through some of this garbage makes me wonder why i even waste my time. nonetheless, it's a place where a collection of feeble minded, fucking wannabe elitists can discuss how six months ago they were lapping up bno's music, but now that they've become relatively successful, they're 'not original'. fuck you people. this is some of the most innovative, awe-inspiring music that will come out this year. it doesn't sound like any other band making music today. oh by no means are they bane, from a second story window, (insert obscure band name here in hopes of impressing people) or whatever you idiots are listening to to make you feel like the SuPeR-scenster that we all know you are....and that's a good thing. a very good thing. bno is the fresh breath of air in a room full of beer farts. it's science. the album is a victim of it's own hype. bno set the bar so high with make yourself sick that any follow-up to it, especially a follow-up pimped as hard as this one could not even come close to holding a torch next to it. I hate this because it sounds the same as everything else in this pseudo-genre. The only difference is that they pretend there is some kind of concept. Wow. A story about some depressed suburbanite and his dead girlfriend. Joy. Let me get on the eyeliner and girl pants so I can sing along! this is a love-it-or-hate-it cd. some hate it because it isn't old bno, some like it because it isn't old bno, in addition to an assortment of other two-sided reasons. boys night out suck. if the point of your band is to get your music to as many people as possible, maybe you shouldn't be playing music. how does this get praised while others like tbs and alexisonfire don't? song writing skill. talent at musical instruments. lyrics that don't make me want to puke. are those enough reasons? I like this, but how come this band get praised and bands like TBS and Alexisonfire get ripped at? Boys Night Out is named after a Frank Sinatra song. Deal with it. "why is Boys Night Out a stupid band name? what makes weezer, bad religion, lagwagon, foo fighters, modern life is war? yeah ok, how about lawrence arms? against me!, what the fuck is with the exclamation, pedro the lion? are you serious, the unseen, yeah well i see you buddy, what about gay shit like, the beatles? fucking beatles? all spelled wrong and shit? all band names are somewhat stupid, and they probably are an inside joke or whatever. "bands have to evolve. any kid who bitches about bands when they get "famous" you really dont like the band at all. cause the point of being in a band is to get your music to as many people as possible and if you get angry at a band for doing that, then fuck you dont like them at all. BNO is a shit. Make Yourself Sick wasnt bad but this is. bands have to evolve. any kid who bitches about bands when they get "famous" you really dont like the band at all. cause the point of being in a band is to get your music to as many people as possible and if you get angry at a band for doing that, then fuck you dont like them at all. Worst band ever. Im love how you are all saying Madball is unoriginal, when they have been around since the late 80s and pretty much with Agnostic Front were the only bands playing the style of music that you all listen to today. Yeah totally unoriginal. i live in the town they come from and their music is good...hey all you bashers i bet your in a shit-ass band right now and are upset that your band isn't going anywhere and they did...grow some balls you bitches and stop bashing them cause ther're doing better then you are...grow up True. "Posted by Anonymous on 2005-07-28 01:52:01 why is Boys Night Out a stupid band name? what makes weezer, bad religion, lagwagon, foo fighters, modern life is war? yeah ok, how about lawrence arms? against me!, what the fuck is with the exclamation, pedro the lion? are you serious, the unseen, yeah well i see you buddy, what about gay shit like, the beatles? fucking beatles? all spelled wrong and shit? all band names are somewhat stupid, and they probably are an inside joke or whatever. beastman aids? i have aids. Stellar. Their last one was good, but this shit is seriously lame. so you and your mom make fun of this band? haha 'cut above the rest' my ass. everyone i know says this band blows, and we make fun of them together. "Well, Pink Floyd isn't that good to begin with, so the comparison is probably warranted." i bought my PS2 off one of the dudes in this band why is Boys Night Out a stupid band name? what makes weezer, bad religion, lagwagon, foo fighters, modern life is war? yeah ok, how about lawrence arms? against me!, what the fuck is with the exclamation, pedro the lion? are you serious, the unseen, yeah well i see you buddy, what about gay shit like, the beatles? fucking beatles? all spelled wrong and shit? all band names are somewhat stupid, and they probably are an inside joke or whatever. Well, Pink Floyd isn't that good to begin with, so the comparison is probably warranted. Great another concept album that totally sucks. Way to go, dicks. I thought it was a joke at first, and maybe it still is, but we both know there are plenty of kids out there who would make that statement in full seriousness. BNO are good guys, and I admit the music is very ehh... still, at least they tried to change it up a little. It's nothing ground breaking and certainly no a 'rock opera' (ugh), but again, scores for at least trying to break their own mould and no one elses. I think its better to try, even if its nothing special (or even too original), than to be like lameass bands like Pennywise who release the same album forever. BNO realised they were lame at least, and so many other bands should probably admit that. Again, certainly not album of the year, but its definatly not terrible butalso not groundbreaking or memorable. i'm pretty sure its safe to say that floyd comment was a joke these comments are funny too! gosh you guys all make me laugh alot. that comment about train having the monopoly on the 't' section was good boys night out is a really stupid band name tylerdurden830690210: youre right. i havent listened to the full album. maybe because im trying to cut back on my theivery. but i did listen to the tracks that were provided, in order to make a fair, honest judgement. Street team...not street tram. Ah ...it seems he BNO street tram is out in full force, spewing ridiculous praise and adoration for this album. Pink Floyd of our generation? Give me a fucking break. ok i actually listened to this so i can say it: that pink floyd comparison is pretty stupid and this guy is definitely a retard but honestly you and anchors need to die with him. i agree with anchors, that guy needs to die. My hopes werent too high for this cd after being letdown by Make Yourself Sick, and it pretty much ended up being what I thought it was. Here was a band that had alot of potential after their first EP and proceeded to say 'fuck it' and try to make a quick buck. While this cd does have a few good songs, it just doesnt have staying power. You listen to it once and get the story, then after that its just kinda boring. No great songs like 'A Torrid Love Affair'. "I got the CD today at FYE and I've been listening to it nonstop. Seriously its like a different band than they were, and its in the best way possible. I think they're going to be the Pink Floyd of this generation/scene." Pink Floyd? I got the CD today at FYE and I've been listening to it nonstop. Seriously its like a different band than they were, and its in the best way possible. I think they're going to be the Pink Floyd of this generation/scene. this shit doesn't sound any different to me than hawthorne heights or anything else endorsed by fuse/jason tate/alternative press/the makers of girls jeans/hot topic/autistic hairdressers etc "To me it's everything to me it's everything to me it's "Posted by Anonymous on 2005-07-26 14:09:26 The new Crime in Stereo EP does fucking rule. I bought it when I saw them Monday night. SUCKS! ALOT!, but i'll tell you my story on this record ... I went to the record store to pick up the new CRIME IN STEREO ep THE CONTRACT ... now that is what should be highly recommended, but i saw the bno cd and said the last one had some decent songs i'll give it a try i put it on in my car and i listened to the whole thing before i went home ... when i got home i immediately starting trying to find someone who would buy it off of me becuase it was one of the worst cd's i'd ever bought ... even my limp bizkit cd's are better ... anyways i listened to it and its not any good the concept is really lame enough with the killing of women start talking about something worth while in your songs and everyone else stop hyping this band, THEY AREN'T ANY GOOD ANYMORE! Sucks. o-ver-ra-ted (clap clap clapclapclap) I'm just surprise with all the talk of concept albums, no one's mentioned Husker Du's Zen Arcade (or while not aesthetically punk, Lifter Puller for that matter). "...though i don't understand the constant hatred for some bands (BNO) and the constant dick sucking of others (modern life is war)." I'm a die hard Boys Night Out fan and I really enjoyed this album. The story line is great and yeah maybe the whole concept album thing is over done but really this one did it well along with Snapcase's "End Transmission". And yeah I do understand everything that is said and what it stands for just to clear up the mind of the dude that said "All die hard BNO fans probably don't even know what they are listening to." Anyways amazing album so sad to hear not many people liked it. If you like this bansd you got no balls the only song I can listen to all the way through is Medicating Boy's Night Out is the rotten herpes blister on fordirelifesake's wang. I've listened to it. It sucks. Just to refresh my memory, I listened to the songs linked here on this page. Yeah, it still sucks. Maybe the die hard BNO fans are the ones who don't actually realize what theyre listening to? I really tried to give these guys a chance. I saw them live, didn't like them. But because everyone was saying so many good things about this album I listened to all the previews they posted, I didn't like those either. Screamo, or whatever genre this falls under....I just dont like it. I pass on this one. Hooray! A concept album by these clowns. I bet it's "dark". I'm willing to bet money that most of you that have posted bad comments on the album have not even actually listened to the album. Although, I must say, I'm not the least bit suprised...it is punknews.org. i'm not having it. that song in my head song or whatever is ok. but i am not having any of this. also, Boys night Out is such a lame band name....they might as well have called themselves Gays Day IN ..HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH They are by no means a bad band, but album of the year? I'm willing to bet money that most of you that have posted bad comments on the album have not even actually listened to the album. Although, I must say, I'm not the least bit suprised...it is punknews.org. Album Of The Year? Concept albums are lame. Pop punk bands writing songs with thinly veiled metaphors for violence are bad enough in 2 minute bursts. Writing an entire album around it is worse. Writing every single album about it is just unbearable. where is the pun in the first paragraph? o-ver-ra-ted (clap clap clapclapclap) o-ver-ra-ted (clap clap clapclapclap) "You pretentious homo, please. It may not be the best production, but if you want to hear a demo, try their ACTUAL demo." fuck this, where isthe review for the new minus the bear What is with this band and murder? Seems like they're trying to grab attention by focusing on a supposedly "shocking" topic over and over again. Lame, murder isn't cool nor is it really "shocking" at all. i did not enjoy Make Yourself Sick as much as I would have liked. BNO seemed to have so much more potential and this album finally showcased that. this album will definitely end high on my list for 2005. It's kinda......not very good. "Highly recommended" M-E-H That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard in my entire life. fear of leaks? i've had this for about a month Fear of leaks was so bad, they weren't even seeling this at Warped on Saturday... Album of the Year. i am a firm believer in that a wacked out concept alone does NOT make for a good album what's going to be great is when this album is spilling out of the used CD bins in the "T" section as Train Wreck. i bet Train is really going to be bummed about losing their monopoly on it.... This band has nothing to do with screamo or pop-punk. i am a creative writing teacher and i am giving this story a F this is what the blood brothers would sound like if they were a drive thru band. "P.S. this cd could easily be worse. it could be an Armor for Sleep CD" Bad album art. Good album. P.S. this cd could easily be worse. it could be an Armor for Sleep CD. some people actually like poppy, melodic music. and in general, music of such a style is often shallow and playful. kudos to BNO for diverging from the bandwagon of screamy poppunk to pursue a musical sound more comfortable (and entertaining), than their previous efforts. i don't quite see why everyone is so fed up with concept albums, they've been around since the 60s/70s, and only just recently entered alternative music on the large scale. while the concept album was perfected by Rush (2112, don't even argue.), it's still interesting to see a coherent, fluent album, as opposed to some releases, more a collection of 12 tracks that were determined to be the best of the litter. And sometimes, these concepts lead to huge success, musically (Mars Volta), or commercially (Green Day). this is what the blood brothers would sound like if they were a drive thru band. Kudos to Boys Night Out for selling an insane amount of copies (Make Yourself Sick) of an OBVIOUS demo. I heard this, not bad, more indie rock at times for sure. Yet another band scorns their screaming roots.... bsd is right, this shock figurative image thing is getting old "oh well, it still gets my vote for album of the year." I never was really into their old material, but the new songs I've heard seem to have a more focused feel to them. I think I'm gonna pick this up today... I like how bands these days all have to depend on these convoluted "concepts" since they're unable to make good music. thats a twisted and blizzarre tale indeed This band is such a trainwreck great review, but i think you maybe forgot a star, especially considering that i read barely any negative aspects in the review. It has na interesting concept that wasnt all that great from what I've heard... |
